Something About Me:
Laura Singletary
After graduating with a B.S. in Mathematics from Lee University in 2004, I began teaching students mathematics at Walker Valley High School. While I was teaching at Walker Valley, I completed my Masters in Education at Lee University, taught the most amazing students, and taught a mathematics course at Lee University.
I married my sweetheart on December 2006 in Sedona, Arizona. He teaches math at WBHS and he is recently completed his Ed.S. degree.
In 2008, we moved to Athens, Georgia so I could attend the University of Georgia. I am second year Mathematics Education doctoral student, and I am loving every moment of my experience! Being a student at the University of Georgia, I have had the opportunity to study with outstanding professors, work on research through the Center for Proficiency in Teaching Mathematics, and review and edit for The Mathematics Educator.

10 Random Facts about Laura Singletary (in no particular order):
1. I met my wonderful husband in Calculus 2.
2. I spent a summer studying Art History in Italy as an undergrad.
3. I grew up in the sunshine of Scottsdale, Arizona (the record temperature one summer day was 124 degrees F).
4. I have two younger sisters, and they are two of my favorite people in the world!
5. I love watching 24 and Lost .
6. I took a Japanese course and then spent a summer in Japan.
7. People say that my youngest sister and I look like twins.
8. My first day in a public school was my first day teaching high school.
9. I love the Godiva Chocolate cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.
10. My grandpa, a former high school science teacher, taught me Base 2 when I was 5 at McDonald's while eating ice cream cones - I like to think this is when my love affair with mathematics (and ice cream) began.
